EPIDEMIC IN N.S.W. ALSO IN QUEENSLAND. (Received 2 p.n£) • i: SYDNEY, this day. An .epidemic of dengue fever'is raging f1.4 Newcastle, where to date several hundred cases have been reported. The Government medical officer, in a circular, Bays that, so far as is known, the disease is spread by the bite of a mosquito which carries the germ from person to person. . . I! Dengrie fever, which is usually" founc (occurring in India, Africa and tropica America, is defined as a contagious, epi demic disease. Its onset is sudden, anc it-is usually characterised by an .erup tion resembling that of scarlatina ant by severe pains in-the joints. Lik< jhalaria ,it is regarded as a mosquito ■borne disease.
