ART UNION PRIZES.

QUESTION OF LEGALITY. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Reoen'Uy the council of Christian Congregations passed a resolution urging t he Government to secure a legal opinion as to the art qualities of gold nuggets offered as prizes in art unions in view of legal opinion, as to the legality of art unions. The resolution was brought to the notice of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. R. F. Bollard, to-day. He stated that licenses issued for art unions, the prizes for which "were gold nuggets, were within the statutory provision of the Gaming Act.
