1 ■'.'-' (To the Editor.) Sir, —At last someone In authority has seriously taken up ihe electrical troubles of Auckland. Danger* exist continually from .this source. On the D.C. system, many positions call for "earthed" switches. These,; as conditions are, are a positive danger instead of a protecMr. Holdsworth admits the fault and states its cause. .■ His excuse is lame. Are these faults ' being, properly deal with? Iβ the wood troughing being . discarded? One sees yards of it, new, •being used here still. Why are we having repeated "blows" in.the same spots? Mr. Holdsworth says the fuses i must foe inside .the Wilding. Underground service, yes, but overhead, no. There' are miles of D.C. overhead, in Auckland. These fuses referred to afe !■ on the D.C. overhead •services. You \ will find proof that fires are rather common at these fuses, and in mains between these fuses and the outside, line. ; It is high time the Contractors' Association took this matter ■ up. An individual contractor cannot do it. Mr. Holds- ; worth says earth faults are on for only a short period: An absolutely bad and unsafe one has been on for the last four weeks, and still remains! In fact, I will go further. - It has been on ninety per cent .of the time" within the last twelve months.—l am, etc, MASTER WIREMAN.
