THE LONSDALE BELT.

OPEN TO THE WORLD. REDUCING "COMMERCIALISM." (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 14. Lord Lonsdale is completing arrangements whereby the Lonsdale belt matches ■will be thrown open to the world, instead of being confined to the Empire. This, it is expected, will revolutionise existing conditions of boxing, and will prevent a champion retaining the title through years of inactivity. He will be obliged to meet at least one challenger annually. The new conditions will also be the means of reducing commercialism, •which at present is largely governing boxing.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
