J I A meeting of the Onebunga Fire Boani • was held in the Borough Chambers. • There were present: Messrs. W. c. ; Kemble (chairman), C. Hankins. G. Brialcy, • R. G. Speight, J. E. Green. T. R. Gilbert! i W. TV. TVarnock, and Val Kirk (secretarj-K Six tenders were received for supplying ; a new fire engine. These were'considered. ; and the number reduced to three, the linal • choice to be made at the next meeting. The question of a central site for the ( new fire brigade station was advanced • a stage further. A careful inspection of ■ the borough has been made with a view •to getting the most central position. It » is recognised that with the growth of popu- . latlon iv the upper reaches of the town I the present lire brigade station is too near ; the wharf for the brigade to render tho ! best and quickest service in case Of fire, • say. In Mt. Smart and Campbell Road. • branching off from the Royal Oak. A I definite selection will be made before the next meeting. The Finance Committee will also bring down a report at the same ; time for raising the necessary capital to 7 pay for the cost of the new flre brigade • ; station and' generaj equipment ofl .the \ brigade.
