A DEAR RIDE.
NO-TICKET MAN FINED £3. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. For travelling on a train between Auckland and Frankton without a ticket, with intent to evade payment of his fare, and for failing to exhibit a ticket available for the journey when requested to do so by tne guard, Joseph Trotter, who failed to appear, but who entered a plea -f guilty, was. to-day fined £1 on each of three charges by Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M. Senior Sergeant Sweeney said he was requested by the Railway Department to ask his Worship to order defendant to pay the amount of the fare. .His Worship said .that if the Department, wanted this, they could make it the subject of a civil action. He thought the Government would be well recompensed by getting £3 for giving this man a ride.
