FINGERS LOST TO SAVE SOUL.

A MISUNDERSTOOD METAPHOR. TOKYO, December 29. Takeshi Ozawa, aged 27, who is just recovering from a long period of excess of alcoholic stimulation, was taken gravely to task yesterday by a Salvation Army worker, who drove his warnings home by saying that it would be much better for Ozawa to Inge his right hand than his Immortal soul. Accepting this advice literally, Ozawa waited for the next street car, and, just before it passed him, threw himself on the street and iai«l his right hand on the rail, losing the ends of four fingers. On his way to the hospital, Ozawa waved a gory hand and informed the world that perhaps he had made a mistake after all.
