FAKE STORM.
A FOOLISH HOAX. Some person with a perverted sense of humour rang the "Auckland Star" yesterday afternoon just as the paper was about to go to press, stating that it was tlie "Auckland Wireless Station" speaking, and asking if it were too late to take an important message. The message was to the effect that a storm of exceptional severity was approaching the Auckland Province from the northeast, and warning "buildings under eon- | struction" to be prepared. -It was accepted in all good faith, and published at the cost of, some trouble, notwithstanding that the paper was just- on the point of going to press. Had there been any reason to doubt the genuineness of the communication there was no time to look into the matter. Inquiries to-day from the Superintendent of Telegraphs show that no such message was telephoned from the Wireless Station, and steps aTe being taken to endeavour to trace the mischievous author of the hoax, with a view to his prosecution.
