N.Z. CRICKETERS.

MATCH AT MAITLAND DACRE KNOCKS UP 218. SOME EXCELLENT PLAY. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, January 11. The New Zealand cricketers commenced a match against Maitland district at West Maitland to-day. The visitors, in their first innings, compiled the fine score of 610 runs for the loss of seven wickets. The-weather was fine and the wicket good. The New Zealanders gave the local team a leather hunt. The bowling was completely collared. Dacre gave a sparkling exhibition. It was one of the best ever seen on the ground.

Crawford and James also batted brilliantly, and they helped to add to Maitland's misfortune. j It is doubtful if Maitland spectators I ever before saw over 000 runs scored in one day's play. The local bowlers were outclassed, and following Dacre's innings the visiting batsmen did as they pleased with the bowling. Details of the scores are: NEW ZEALAND.—First Innings. Blunt, c Reynolds, b Morrissey .... 30Worker, st Thrift, b Moore 64 Oliver, c Bell, b Morrissey 37 Lowrv, c Thrift, b Morrissey 6 Patrick, b Bell 0 Allcott, c and b Bell 52 Dacre, c Cummins, -b Andrews 218 Crawford, not out •. 79 James, not out .'...' 87 Extras 37 Total for seven wickets 610
