A terrible outrage by bandits is reI ported from Guadalajara, the capital of ■ Jalisco. j A passenger train was attacked by a : party of bandits between Guadalajara jand Mexico City. The majority of the I passengers were murdered, and most of j the members of the military escort were killed. Twenty armed men boarded the train |at Guadalajara. They suddenly began ! stabbing the soldiers with knives. They then robbed and killed the passengers. Of the military escort all but seven were killed, and the others seriously wounded. The train was burned with the victims aboard. The bandits were under the orders of a former colonel, Nunez. They made their escape on the engine, carrying away a booty of 300,01)0 pesos. The telegraph communication was cut. (Reuter.) TWENTY BODIES FOUND. A MOST HIDEOUS CRIME. INTENDED VICTIM ESCAPES. (Received 10 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, January 11. Twenty bodies, burned beyond recognition, have been recovered from the train which the bandits wrecked, looted, and burned on Sunday near Guadalajara. It is said that the desperadoes committed the outrage (one of the most atrocious crimes in Mexico in recent years) in the mistaken belief that General Ferreira (Military Commander of the State of Jalisco) was aboard the train.—(A. and N.Z.
