POLICE PROMOTIONS.
A CROP OF TRANSFERS. NEW SUPERINTENDENT FOR AUCKLAND. ESTSPECTOR WOHLMANN APPOINTED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Consequent on the retirement of Commissioner Wright, several promotions and transfers were announced' in the police force to-day. as follow:— Inspector A. T. Emerson (Whangarei) is promoted superintendent at Wellington, vice Superintendent iSlcllveney, appointed Commissioner. Inspector W. G. Wohlmann (Hamilton) is promoted superintendent at Auckland, vice Superintendent Hendrey, retired. Inspector J. C. Willis is transferred from Timaru to Hamilton, to replace Inspector Wohlmann. Sub-Inspector J. W. Hollis (Wellington) is promoted inspector at Whangarei, in place of Inspector Emerson. Sub-Inspector T. S. C. Kemp (Welling-1 ton) is promoted inspector, Timaru, to replace Inspector Willis. Senior-Sergeant P. Harvey (Dannevirke) is promoted sub-inspector (Wellington) in succession to Sub-Inspector Hollis. Senior-Detective R. R. Ward (Auckland) is transferred to Wellington as chief detective. Senior-Sergeant P. J. O'Hara is transferred from Wellington to take charge of Dannevirke station, and to replace Senior-Sergeant Harvey. Sergeant H. H. Butler (Wellington South) is promoted to senior-sergeant in charge of Taranaki Street station (Wellington). Sergeant D. Scott, of the wharf station (Wellington) replaces Sergeant Butler at Wellington South. Constable J. J. Sparks (Christchurch) is promotetd to sergeant and transferred to Wellington. Detective-Sergeant T. Quirke (Palmerston North) is promoted senior detective. Detective E. F. O'Brien (Auckland) is promoted detective-sergeant.
