POLICE COURT.
(Before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M.) ALL ALONE. George Knudson, alias Erickson, a Norwegian, had the distinction of being the only "drunk" on the list this morning. It "was his second offence within six -months. "Guilty," said he. "£2 and 2/6 taxi fare, or three days," replied the Bench. REMANDED. Wilfred Lawe was charged that at Auckland, on December 31, 1925, with intent to defraud, he obtained from David Silk, a diamond ring, valued at £21, by means of a valueless cheque. On the application of Chief Detective Cummings, accused was remanded to January 18. Further charges were pending, said the Chief. ROBBED OP HIS MONEY. Wilfred Engebretsen (Mr. Singer) was convicted and discharged on a chart, of being found by night on licensed" premises. Accused, who was not a criminal, was taken to the hotel by a boarder, but after consuming some liquor, he' got into the wrong room, and went to sleep there, said Mr. Singer. There had been thieving going on in the hotel, and the young man had been robbed of his money, so he could not be suspected of stealing. DISMISSED. Joseph Diamond (37) was charged with assaulting a lad aged 15 years. The court was cleared durin°- the hearing Accused, who had stated to the police* that he had intended to _ et marned next month, was acquitted
