THE UNEMPLOYED.

Applicants for employment on the waiting list of the Labour Department to-day totalled 170. Of these 148 were classed as being fit for heavy work and 22 for light work. The list showed that 60 were labourers, nine motor drivers, and eight hotel workers. During the week the Department placed in private employment 32 men. Of these, 18 were labourers, six farm hands, and the remainder in various trades and occupartions.
