THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
AMERICA AS A MEMBER. WASHIS'GTOiSr, January 8. A feature of the debate in the Senate regarding the World Court resolution is a more or less open advocacy by some senators that the United States should join the I/eague of Nations. Several Democrat senators commended the League, and some expressed regret that the United States had not joined it. They predicted that America would join the League. A section of the Democrats is disposed to make speeches in which they gloat over the Republicans for having been forced to enter the World Court and to make approaches to the League of Nations. The significance of the expressions of support for the League heard in the Senate is that a strong movement to force the United States into the League is regarded as certain to follow the entrance of this Government into the World Court.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
