CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE.

I DEMAND KEEN TELL END. I LIMITS SHARPLY DEFINED. I (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) jf. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. \ The second Christchurch wool sale of jtlie season was concluded to-day. The epiritedneas of the previous evening waa innre than maintained, and the sale Jtvent through in smart time. The whole of the buying bench iippeared to want wool, and as limits were obviously sharply defined, there was jon occasions quite an exceptional clamour. A feature was the widespread buying points represented. Bradford showed much more activity than at last sale, jp-hile very substantial purchases were ftnade by America of hogget wool and by the Continent of practically all medium classes. Several of the local mills secured a heavy stock of the super fwools, and local fellmongers were fairly prominent in the competition for pieces. Compared with the average prices of last sale, and considering the heavier condition of the present catalogue, jvalues were better for good to super ■wools by id to Id per lb. On shabby to medium wools the market was much [freer, with a par to a Jd advance. The atmosphere of the market may t>e judged from the fact that generally about 250 lots an hour are considered good selling. On the present occasion the alacrity of the bidders permitted this average to be extended to 350 and upwards. For the paucity of the passings the eale about constitutes a record. Of the 20,000 bales offered only 311 were passed Bt auction, and a good few of these were gold during the day. While the prices are hot sufficiently fcdvanced from the moderate prices previously ruling to enthuse farmers, the general atmosphere of the market was yery satisfactory. Values were:— i&lerino—
