A CYCLIST'S MISHAP.
OCCIDENT ON MANGERE BRIDGE. Mr. Robert Caulder, a single man, residing at No. 41, Three Singe Eoad, Mount RoskiK, when crossing over Mangere Bridge from Onehunga at about 4 p.m. yesterday, riding a bicycle, was overtaken by a heavy motor lorry, which was towing a disabled light lorry. Mr. Edward James Cleal, of 21, Selbourne Road, Grey Lynn, was driving the lorry, and Mr. Ernest Edwin Webb, of No. 3, Mount Eden Eoad, was steering the light lorry.
Mr. Caulder says that, as the lorry was in the act of passing him his hat blew off, and his .bike skidded, causing him. to fall down. On the other hand, Mr. Webb told the Onehunga police that Caulder put out his right hand and caught hold of the lorry -when it was passing him. All agree that the lorry did not pass over Mr. Calder, and that he fell outward from it when the hike capsized. Mr. Caulder was taken to the Onehunga police station by a passing motor car, and afterwards to the hospital by Constable C. Putt, after he had been attended by Dr. W. G. Scott. His left foot was severely injured.
