POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION.

PICNIC TO OXETAUXGA.

The New Zealand Power Boat Association will hold their annual club picnic to morrow afteraoon, tfce destination Deing Onetaunga Bay, beyond Kauri Point. Club boats will assemble off Queens wharf at 2.30 p.m. and leave in procession, for Onetaun.aa, or if the wind be nnfavourahle, lor Pine island. During tie afternoon a programme of dinghy and other events vrill tie carried out," especial attention being given to tae young folks.

Commodore C. H. T. Palmer will lead the fleet up harbour in Adelaide, followed by t Ue-Comniodore H. K. Jenkins iv Taora, and Kear-Commodore R. C. Kenner in Grace 'Darling. Amongst the boats expected to take part are Jean, Luana, Fleetwin? Junior, Kdwinu. Renown, Romance JL Lady Margaret, and Leitner.

Members who are non-boat owners are requested to be at the launch steps, Qua.r Street at 2 p.m.. when arrangements wilt >c made to convey them in members' launches to the bay.

A departure is to be made from the usual system of starting the big boars, the handicaps in this case being: given at the start. JL-imit boat will start at 2.30 p.m., foHowei by the others in the oraer of their handicap. The signal to start will be the yacht's number, allotted for the day. which will be displayed on the wharf tower for one minute exactly and lowered as a signal to start A pun will also be fired when the limit boat starts to enable competitors to check their watches. If any yacht crosses the starting line before her starting time, her number oa being lowered, will be re-hoisted and kept displayed until she returns.

The entries are Rawene. Prize. loranci, Moana, Windward and Scout. The handicaps and course will not be decided until 11 a_m to-morrow. The starting line is between the tower on end of the King's wharf and launch moored north.

The prize for the general handicap is the handsome trophy presented by Messrs. riardie Bros., with £10, £5. and £2 adaetf by the club. The first prize for the M class has been donated by Mr. W. P. Endean, with, the addition of £3, £2 and £1 by the club M Class. —This race will start at 3 p.m., the course being from starting line between, tower and launch moored north, round Sandspit beacon on starboard hand, thence round .Resolution buoy on starboard hand, thence round launch at starting line, starboard hand, twice round. This course may De reversed, in which case marts will be passed to port.

The entries are: Manene, Maroro, MoK lie, Mischief, Mawhiti and Matarere".

The Jellicoe class will start after thtM class and sail the same course.

SANDERS CUP TRIALS.

The second test race between the contenders for the honour off representing Auckland province in the annual contest for the Sanders Cup will be held to-morroic afternoon, when the gix boats which competed last Saturday will again try theit speod under the direction of the selectors.

The boats, Avalon, Ronn, Qneen March, Joan. Dulcie and Rangi, are to assemble oil the end of the King's wharl to receive instructions as to course, etc., the race being timed to start at 2.15 p.m. Although last Saturday the start was delayed for half an hour owing to two competitors not being ready, no such grace will be given to-mor-row. The course will be decided on according to the wind, but the start and finish will be in the vicinity of the King's wharl.

The new boat Avalon had an easy win. last Saturday in the first test, beating Queen March in by 6m 12s, the latter being 25s ahead of Rona. Later in tha afternoon the boats mbet in the Akarana Club's race for this class, and sailed one round of the course, with the result that Rona won by 7s only from Queen March, with Avalon'third, 8s behind Queen March. This result leads to the belief that the competition between these three boats 'will ana In be very keen. The other three boats may be ruled out after to-morrow'e race, the* real iseue lying between Rona, Queen March and the new boat. As last week, Joe Patrick will handle Avalon. Victor LidgartJ Queen March, and Jack McWairtei Eona. It is very necessary that the competitor? be givpn a clear course, and other craft are requested to keep well clear of them.

POINT CHEVALIER SAILING CLUB.

The Toint Chevalier Sailing Club wiU lold their second annual regatta to-morro*. afternoon, all events starting and finishing off the clubhouse. Point Chevalier beach. The first race i* a combined handicap for the 26, :!4. 22 and 20-foot classes, starting at 3 p.m. The IS. 16 and 14-foot classes are also provided for. If sufficient entries are received on the day, a launch race will De added. The O-disc system will be used in starting, the yacht" s registered number being used as recall.
