A VERY WET MONTH. LOW-LYING COUNTRY INUNDATED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Heavy rain is still falling in the North, but so far there are no reports of extra flood damage in Whangarei County beyond swollen rivers. Lwlying country is inundated, seriously interfering with road communication from Whangarei North. The Northern railway service is standing well, but, should heavy rain such as fell this morning not abate, the outlook -nill be rather bad. All Rugby fixtures were cancelled on Saturday on account of rain. The month of May has been an exceptionally wet one. The total rainfall recorded in Whangarei being 13.61 inches. A large number of visitors to Wairua Falls yesterday were provided with a magnificent epc-rtaele by the large volume of water Fweoping down the Wairua and Mangakahia Rivers. At mid-day the conditions indicated promise of au improvement in the weather.
