PUBLIC HALL AT BIRKDALE.
BUILT BY VOLUNTARY LABOUR. Carpenters, both skilled and amateur, will be busy at Birkdale on Saturday next, when a start will be made to build a new public hall on Puriri Road by voluntary labour. The whole of the timber, some 21,000 feet, is already on the ground, and residents of Birkdale are subscribing liberally and offering their services freely. The hall will be 58ft by 42ft, and will supply a long felt want in a rapidly, extending district, which has hitherto been dependent upon the adjoining suburbs for a hall for recreation purposes.. The work will be carried out under the supervision of Mr. M. It. Soiitter.
