I WAR LOANS SEI.I, WELL. TRICES SHOW IMPROVEMENT. Business showed a decided improvement on 'Clmiijje since last report. Kree sides were made of Government War Loans, and prices showed improvement all round. The 4J per cent loan?, free of income tax, 1!):JH and ]!):!!), had sale-; at £!>7, £07 ">/ and £97 2/C, after whirl. buyers quoted £!!(' l.'i/, and for the 193(1 issue 2/ti under that figure. Soldiers' 5J per cent loan, both bond and inscribed, had a number of sales. The inscribed issue sold at £100 1:1/ to £100 17/ IS, and the bonds from £100 10/ to £1U() 15/. The f> per cent loan. 1!)27. changed hands at £98 .">/. and inscribed 1020 loan of 5 per cent were transferred at £()S. Auckland Harbour Board 4 per cent debentures sold nt £S.'{ 10/. and City 5J per cent, IP.IO, £!lj 10/ and £00. Banking Corporation shares had fair business during tin- week. I'nion Bank of Australia shares had several transactions at iU i>/, after which buyers offered an ex ra shilling, but sellers asked £14 10/. Sales were made earlier in the week of lank of Australasia shares at £13 l(i/(i. and of ordinary issue Commercial Bank at 27/. For the preference issue of Commercial Banks, there has been steady demand at £(} \)/, without any sellers quoting. Bank of Xew South Wales shares were wanted at £41, hut when sellers dropped lo £41 10/. the buyer ceased to quote. Bank jof Xew Zealand chares firmed a little. being sold from fl3/i) lo 34/3. National Banks, after selling lip to £7 :i/(i. were offered yesterday at £7 I/, but the buying quotation was two shillings under that ligure. An improvement took place in Farmers" Fertiliser shares this week, sales being made at OS/ to 100/. after which sellers asked in:./. Timber shares met with steady demand. Kauri Timbers char perl hands at. :S:i/li. and Nationals at 2.'i/0. An interim dividend has been declared on L.0.8. Timber shares of one shilling, and buyers now ofl'er Auckland (las shares came in free early in the week, sales being made as low as 2.")/. but the market subsequently firmed again, transactions taking place' at 2.'?/:! I ami 2:i/ii. Xew Zealand Breweries j debenture stork had sales up to 22/ I this week. His Majesty** Theatre and I Arcade shares had transactions at 20/: i, ! and Taupiri Coal at 17/ ii. An extra ; threepence was offered for Taupiris at I the third call yesterday. Wilipa Colj lieries have not been quoted since the j dividend of H per cent and bonus of j'2 per cent were paid to shareholders. I Wilsons Cement shares held the recent [advance, having sold ut 3a/«. at which rate mure could have been placed. South British Insurance sold at 40/11, and Xew Zealand at 31/9. Transactions took place in (Sear Meat, Ltd., at 4-1/. while- buyers enme in for Dalgety, Ltd. lat £15 ,y, but no seller quoted. ' Abraham Williams ordinary shares were placed at 82/ ami Huddart Parker Steam at 4:{/(i and 43/9. Northern Steam sold at 13/3 for the paid Usiie. (and ii/ 9 for the contributing. Taranaki Oil shares have not had much attention this week, a ?ale being made at 28/0. after which sellers asked 30/ and n<l buying rate was quoted. Wellington I Woollen Company shares sold at £(! 3/0, and buyer* offered 23/10 for both ordinary and preference shares in Milne an'l Choycc. l.ul.
