POLICE COURT.
(Before Messrs. A. J. Stratford and Llew. J. Pegler, J.P.'s.) PATRIOTIC ANYWAY. Joseph Lyons (68) was charged with being found by night without lawful excuse on enclosed premises in Mount Eden Road. Senior Sergeant Edwards asked for a i week's remand so that Lyons could be medically examined. As he was about to leave the dock Lyons said in loud voice, "Just one request, gentlemen; I fought for Kitchener once, and I'll fight for England now." ILLEGALLY ON PREMISES. Three middle-aged men, Donald Taylor, William Jackson and Ernest Cox appeared on a charge of having been found by night on the grandstand at Victoria Park. The Senior Sergeant stated that all three men had long ?.sts. The Bench sentenced all three to seven days' imprisonment. Taylor, who was also charged with procuring liquor while prohibited, was remanded for one week. CASES REMANDED. Robert Thomas Gordon Smith' (25), for whom Mr. Allan Moody appeared, was remanded to appear on April 18 on a charge of carnal knowledge of a girl of 14. Bail, in one surety of £50, was allowed. On a charge of being an idle and disorderly person, Stephen Alexander Bishop (25) was remanded for one week. Bail, in accused's own surety of £50, and another of £50, was allowed.
