PLANES IN THE ALPS.
SXOWBOUND MEN SAVED. After they had been missing for nearly a week, and when all hope of their being found alive had been abandoned, three skiers who were lost in tie Alpine range forming the Swiss-Italian frontier hare been found and saved from starvation by aeroplanes. The ekiers were Professor Staub, of Zurich, and two companions, all expert ■kien, who left Fexthal for the Marlnelli Hut, on the Italian side of the frontier range. Heavy Enowitormi rendered their return impossible, and great anxiety was felt for their safety, as it was not known if the hut was packed with provisions. An aeroplane attempted to reach the hut, but was driven back by blinding snow. Three Swiss military machines then flew over the hut and sighted the three men, who were apparently well. The airmen dropped them a supply of provisions, together with a message that they would return again if necessary and a letter from Professor Staub's wife exhorting him to keep up his courage.
