Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald has been the recipient of 30.000 if 1 preference shares in the firm of McVittie, Price and Co., biscuitmakers, whose capital of £ 1,000,000 is held by seventeen shareholders. Mr. Mac Donald and Sir Alexander Grant, the principal director, were schoolboys together. ' Mr. MaeDonald was a guest at the firm's celebration. He called every day for a week, and left a note claiming that he could make better cakes than anybody else in Scotland. Finally he was engaged., and worked hard -until he controlled the business.
