TERROR IN INDIA.
MURDER AND INCENDIARISM. DESTRUCTION OF A CITY. CURFEW IN LUCKNOW. (P.y Cable.-Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received 2.30 p.m.) DELHI, September 15. It is estimated that there were 50 casualties during the Kohat riots. The fires have been quelled, but the main portions of the city were destroyed. The place is practically deserted. There has been looting on an extensive scale, and many wealthy residents are rendered penniless. Lucknow is in the hands of the military, and the curfew is in operation. Under the noses of patrolling soldiers, victims are stabbed by ruffians, and the city's hospitals are full of wounded. These and other instances of communal bitterness arc causing anxiety.—"Sun."
