IMPROVEMENT OF GOLF.
NEW "ZEALAND COURSES. INVITATION TO EXPERTS. (Received 1— noon.) LONDON, September 15. A leading golf authority says leading professionals who are course archi- ■ g tects are greatly interested in New Zea- > g land's proposal to improve the local courses. The suggestion to invite two experts indicates a wish to combine exhibition games with the receipt of expert advice. This would be costly, as experts will not visit the other end of the' world without, a big fee—probably -£GOO or £700 for a three months' tour of Xew Zealand. G. Hawtrey, an expert in modern courses, who is in partnership with. -J. H. Taylor, is suggested. Hawtrey, interviewed, said he was interested in the proposal, and, it was a matter of terms only. He might be able to persuade Taylor to accompany him. He mentioned other outstanding experts Tardon, Ray, Braid. Duncan, Sherlock, --.and Boomer. —("Sun.")
