S UBURBAN PEDDLERS.

'To the Editor.) .*"'"" -~ T Trite concur with the views of ; '"Busy Housewife"' with regard to the I above pests. It is clearly time that j j egtslation was passed prohibiting pcd- ; |ler= and hawkers entering the gates 0 f any residence. In Australia I believe' the law is that any licensed hawker may cry out his wares from the street, but lon no account must he go inside the gate unless the lady of the house calls | him to make a purchase. The sooner this system is instituted in Xew Zealand, the less the petty thieving and house-entering when the occupants are away in the daytime am. etc.. RABBIT-HO. (To'the Editor.) Sir, —I cordially endorse every word "Xicensed" utters in connection with the above. I am also, like him, a licensed canvasser. and have never been requested to produce the license or badge of office or calling, which I would be only too pleased tn produce if called upon to do so. as it offers a protection to ""Busy Housewife"' and others of her ilk who have to attend the door so frequently, due to the lame numbers peddling. Perhaps '"Busy Housewife's" husband may have to do a bit of canvassing before he dies, then the wife may have a little more consideration for the man on the road. —I am. etc..
