COLLEGE DAY.

TE AUTE V. GRAMMAR.

THE HOME T3AM "WINS

VICTORIA COI-LEGE BEATEN.

There was a large attendance at Eden Park this afternoon when three interesting college games were played under ideal conditions. The first two games played, iv which Whangarei High School played Mount Albert Grammar School, and Te Aute College met Auckland Grammar, were first-class expositions of secondary school play. The Whangarei ■boys played a rattling good game against their more experienced opponents, and had the city lads all out to beat them by 13 points to 8.

In the game between the Moascar Cup challengers, Te Aute and Auckland Grammar, the Maori boys showed little dash in the first spell, when 16 points were put up against them; but in the second half they more than held their own, and were unlucky not to have considerably reduced the margin against them. Eventually Grammar 26 points to 11.

The main game of the day between Victeria College, of Wellington, and Auckland University was fast and open, ljut much of the play was marked by fumbling and mistakes amongst the backs, which niade the work ragged. The Auckland forwards were too fast iv the open for the visitors, and they turned the scale in favour of their side. Victoria College led 3—o at the close of the first spell, .but in the second half the local University team rattled up several quick scores, and they won by 18 points to 8.
