NOTES FROM EPSOM.

Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the New Zealand Trotting Cup close with the secretary (Mr. A. I. Rattray) on August 2t, at noon. The Epsom track was in good order yesterday afternoon, and trainers took advantage of it, and gave their horses useful work. W. Orange had his team there. All were given a useful run. G. Paton had his chestnut maiden pacer working with the hopples on. Billy Whiz has boen troubled with a bad cold for many weeks, but Is making great headway at present. n. Healy has had several tempting offers for his American-bred mare, but no business has resulted. Mr. G. Hill has started to work Lorrt Haldann, and he is an early visitor to the track. G. Phlpps returned rrom Sydney last Wednesday, and has made a start on DIcK Dillon, preparing him for the coming meeting. Mr. L. Hill's latest purcDas* Sparkling Pronto, Is at present belnff trained by J. lirycc, in Christchurcli. As there Is not a class to suit at the Metropolitan Club's August flxturn, It Is qulto liknly she will be started at the Auckland October meeting. Mr. D. Smith has leased Admiral Hood from Mr. L. Hill. ' All Bell is reported to be looking a little shaky In the leg, thouß-h lie has been paid up for the first day in Christcßurch. Nita Bell has put in an appearance at the track. She Is at present woarlng a bandage on one hind leg. a 3. O'Kane has taken over the stables recently occupied by P. Riddle, in The Drive. Epsom. J. O'Kane has a team of six horses, his latest arrivals being Don Doug-las, a four-year-old, and Magpie Pronto. six years old. Both horses are owned by Mr. j. R. Simpson, or Sydn«y, who contemplates visiting Auckland ror the October meeting. It Is quite likely this owner will bring , two more horses with him.

W. Tozer has Pan! In band. Hβ is beinggiven plenty or road work. Mr. L. Hill has purchased J. Fisher's stables in The Drive, Epsom. Messrs. Lovegrove Bros, have leased Hula Girl to Messrs. Stockley Bros. She remains under W. Orang-e's care. I Queen Audubon is In J. T. Paul's stable. at Otahuhu. This mare was expected to do I great things, but raced disappointingly I last season, her only success being a small stake at the Gisborne fixture. j
