FATALLY BURNED.
EXPLOSION OF BENZINE. INJURED YOUTH'S WALK TO DOCTOR, (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) NELSON, this day. Prior to being relieved at the Motueka telephone exchange about two o'clock yesterday morning, Gilbert Everett, aged eighteen, son of Mr. L. Everett, of Motueka, went to a shed for benzine to fill a benzine table lamp. An explosion occurred. Mr. H. G. McPherj son, who was coming on duty, rushed to the scene and found Everett's clothes on fire. He wrapped him in a ! coat to extinguish the flames, and then rushed to ring tip Dr. Deck. MeanI while Everett disappeared, turning up at the doctor's house. Considering his excessive burns, it is marvellous how he got there. He was taken to the cottage hospital, where he died early this morning.
