ONEHUNGA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
A pleasing function took place at the last meeting of the Oncliunga Benevolent Society, when Mrs. E. Burden and Mrs. John Rowe were each rbe recipient of a valuable rug from their fellow members. Both ladies have been members of the society for thirty years or more, and during that time have spared no effort to ameliorate the condition of the poor of Onehunga. Mrs. Burden was also treasurer of the society until the last annual meeting, when she was compelled to relinquish office- owing to failing health. Mrs. Rowe Visiting Committee, hut still retains her membership of the society. The rugs were presented by members as an expression -of their appreciation of the good work done by Mesdames Burden and Rowe, and also of the esteem in which both ladies are held by the society anil the people of Onehunga.
