Interviewed after the poll, Mr. W. J. Tait, Mayor, said that naturally he was very pleased with the result of the poll, which proved that the residents of the borough arc in full sympathy with the council in an endeavour to make this district equal to, if not better than, any suburb around Auckland. The concrete road when completed, going right through the borough, will open up and thereby advertise the many natural advantages that this district possesses. This work will be put in hand immediately. This will mean a good motor-bus service to the city. Other, what might be termed subsidiary, main roads in the borough will be bitumenised, while footpaths will receive special attention. The main sewer is nearly completed, and reticulation is to be carried out shortly. Electric light will shortly be available, the poles for which are already delivered along the main road. The population is now well over 4000, and on an average 12 building permits are issued weekly, and at least two subdivisions of property come before the council for approval each fortnightly meeting. He was pleased tha|. all the wards carried their loans. The work will be put in hand as soon as money is available.
