Kcnrv beaded a Grafton rush which got I his side on the attack immediately on commencing, and althonch a transfer from Johnson was intercepted, Grafton went on with their attack. Sorensen making a run which resulted in Kcary scoring from a forward tussle two minutes after starting. Kearv converted. Grafton 3, Col-' lege Rifles 0. | College forwards rushed to the attack ; and tbo ball came out in the twenty-five to Muir. Todd and Gardiner, who ran over at the corner. McLean failed with the kick. Grafton 5. College Rifles 3. A useful kick by Muir repulsed a Grafton atlack and by open play College worked back into Grafton twenty-live. Again Col-I lege opened out. and Muir went through j Ihe weak defence to score a try which McGregor failed to convert. College P.ilies 0, Graftou 3. An interchance of marks saw McLean have a shot from -4.~i yards out. hut the distance was beyond him. Tbe fullback, Menzies, fumbled under the posts and College were in a good position when they offslded, but it was only temporary relief for College honked from a scrum and the ball went out on the blind side to McGregor and Gardiner, who ocored. McGregor failed at goal. College Rllles d, Grafton 5. .Tohnstnne got his side into College's twenty-five and his forwards held their position there until College came back in loose play. Changing round, College displayed good handling and looked like scoring when Kcary intercepted a pats from Wilson and deared. Another bout between McGregor, Wilson and Gunson was stemmed right on the line. A moment later Wilson had an unsuccessful drop at goal but Graftou were penalised. Fogartv did a short kick, followed up and scored before Grafton realised what had happened. McLean missed the goal. College Rifles 12, Grafton 3. College forced from ihe kick out and good play by Lamb compelled thera to touch down again a moment later. A passing run by Grafton backs saw Sorensen kick to Batchelor, the latter's kick being smothered. College worked back I again, a penally assisting them to their opponent's territory. Here a sudden change occurred. Wakely breaking away and then Lynch snatched up the ball and ran through from half-way. Kearv's kick Just missed. College Rifles 11!, Grafton 8. On changing round College commenced to dominate the game, McGregor getting over after receiving from Gillespie. The kick was unsuccessful. A passing bout between Gillespie, Muir and Wilson saw tbe latter beat a couple of tneu and score a try, which Todd convened. College Rifles 2(). Grafton 8. College, who had the wind behind ibeui, continued to have the better of the game, and Muir made a tricky run, to score near- the posls. Todd convened. Immediately on changing over for the last quarter. College bad another run, which resulted in Gardiner, on Ihe wing scoring. The kick failed. College Rifles 2h, Grafton 8. Grafton had a turn on the attack but failed to tinlsb off their efforts. College came back again, and after a forward rush the ball came out from a line out to Gunson, who scored. College came back again, a good opening being made by Gillespie for Muir to score. McGregor failed with the kick.
