Dospite the bitter weather conditions there was a largo attendance at Eden Park this afternoon, when spectators were rewarded with a fast and exciting collpge game, in which Auckland Grammar School were beaten by eight points to three by Mount Albert Grammar School, and later by scejig Grammar Old Boys indict on Ponsonby the first defeat that team has suffered this season. In tho curtain-raiser the game was very evenly contested, and the Auckland school team was three points ahead at half-time. In the second Bpell their opponents early equalised with a goal from a mark, and they followed this with a fine try, which was converted. The older school team made desperate efforts to regain the lead, and on several occasions just missed getting a score. The Ponsonby-Grammar game was very even for the first spell, which ended with the score level—three all. In the second spell Grammar out-played Ponsonby, who were without the services of Matson, and ran their score up to 19, while Ponsonby added only three points. College Rifles had their best team out against Grafton at Victoria Park, and in the course of an open game dominated tho second spell, with the result that they finished up winners by 39 points to 8. Marists and University played a hard and fast game, in which the latter led for the greater part of the game by three points to nil, but toward the end of play Marists evened up, and the game ended in a draw. King's Old Boys proved too strong for the home team at Avondale, and ran out winners against Suburbs by 20 points to nil. An even game on a sloppy field at North .Shore was played by Newton and ■Shore, and victory was turned in favour of the homo side by Murray Roid, who had been prominent throughout, and from a mark he registered the only score of the game by placing a goal.
