BLAZE AT PALMERSTON.
TIMBER MILL BURNED. VALUABLE MACHINERY DESTROYED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. A disastrous fire, resulting in heavy damage, occurred at Torstonsons Ltd.'s timber- mill in the early hours of this morning. When tho brigade arrived the flames had a good hold, and despite their strenuous efforts the main portion of the premises was completely destroyed, also 40,000 ft of joinery timber and much valuable machinery. The origin of the fire is unknown. Four years ago tho original factory, on a site then owned by Sollitt Bros., Ltd., was destroyed. The amount of damage by last night's fire is not ascertainable. The ruins are still smouldering. The insurances are £580 on the factory building, £500 on machinery, £100 on timber in the building destroyed. Timber in stacks not touched by the flames was insured for £2000.
