OBITUARY.

s MR. EDWARD MASON. 1 The death occurred yesterday, at his t residence, Princes Street, Northcote, of Mr. Edward Mason, well known in the t soft goods business in Auckland, and in bowling and Anglican Church circles. He . was born at Ncwcastle-under-Lyme, in t Staffordshire, 61 years ago, and came to - New Zealand in 1913. He subsequently ; entered the firm of Arch. Clark and Sons, . Ltd., and retired from the position of i warehouse manager three years ago, on i account of failing health. He was a > member of the Waitemata Bowling Club, r and an office-bearer of St. John the _ Baptist's Anglican Church, Northcote, r and was highly esteemed for his sterling, 1 manly qualities, by a large circle of > friends. He is survived by his widow, 5 one daughter (Miss Frances Mason), and three sons, Messrs. Roy, Norman, and t Philip Mason. The third son, the late ! Private Ernest Edward Mason, died of 3 wounds sustained in action in France in • 1917. Canon Mason, of Otahuhu, is a I brother of deceased.
