MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.

« AGAINST HAMILTON DRIVER, (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Joseph Balle, a taxi driver, was to-day charged with the manslaughter of Maurice Enoch Ansell, who was knocked off a cycle and killed by Balle's car. on May 6. Mr. F. J. Strang represented accused. Evidence was led along the lines of that given at the inquest, which showed that Balle was travelling at an excessive speed. He was commited for triaL Bail was allowed on two securities of £100. Mr. Strang applied for a change of venue to Auckland, as he considered that a local jury might be influenced by the publicity that has been given the case. This was refused, and Mr. Strang intimated that he would make an application to *the judge when the Case was before the Supreme Court.
