AMERICAN WOOL TRADE.

—■■ ~ - GROWERS HOLDING CUPS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SAN FRANCISCO, June 18. Aside from the fact that prime Australian and New Zealand wool is being re-exported from the United States to British ports, wool prices in the American range States during the last half of May and early in June had a lower tendency, but many growers are holding their clips in expectation of a firmer market, according to reports to tbe United States ' Department of Agriculture from its field representatives. Buyers are not active as a rule and they show little interest except when price concessions are granted. Shearing has been practically completed, or is in full swing in most States. The Bureau of Agricultural Economics, commenting on the national wool situation, states that the wool market has continued to transact business on a slow and somewhat uncertain basis. Prices however, had been slightly easier in several lines, and sales 'had been consummated on new levels. On the Boston market the finer grades arc quite active, but little is arriving from abroad. Fine Australian are well sold up on the local market. Some New Zealand stock is still available, but the amount is limited, and this will not be released until higher prices are obtainable. Imports of wool at the port of Boston reached a new low figure for the week ending June 7, a total of 286.0231b of greasy wools and 61511b of mohair having entered.
