SIR S. RUSSELL-WELLS, MJ. LONDON, July 15. The death has occurred of Sir Sydney Russell-Wells, Conservative memlfer of the House of Commons for London University.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Sir S. Russell-Wells represented London University in the House of Commons from 1922. He represented the University on the General Medical Council was senior physician to the Seamen's Hospital, Greenwich, lecturer on the practice of medicine at the London School of Clinical Medicine, physician to the National Hospital for diseases of the heart, and hon. physician to the dioceses of Lebombo, Rangoon, and Zululand. He was vice-chancellor of the University of London from 1919-1922. Ho was 56 years of age. MRS. HENRIETTA WARD. LONDON, July 15. The well-known painter. Mrs. Henrietta Mary Ward, died yesterday.— (A. and N.Z." Cable.) The late Mrs. Henrietta Ward was a grand-daughter of Mr. James Ward, K.A., animal painter to the King. She was a niece of Mr. John Jackson, R.A., portrait painter. She married Mr. E. M. Ward, R.A.. in ]S4S, a _ the age of 10. Mrs. Ward exhibited at the Royal Academy. London, consecutively from 1849 to 1879, and constantly since then, as well as at other galleries.' She nainted chiefly historical works. Queen Victoria greatly admired her work, and acquired many examples.
