MOTOR LORRY EXPLOSION.

A SUSPICIOUS HAP_»EinNG. SUPPOSED CHARGE OF GUNPOWDEK When -Mr. J. Preston, driver of a motor lorry belonging to B. Cunningham, Onehunga, went to crank up the engine of his vehicle yesterday an explosion occurred, which lifted the engine bodily out of the truck and twisted it ri"'ht round. Preston was thrown against the wall with considerable force, but escaped serious injury. The engine, which was valued at £1100, was damaged beyond repair. It is supposed that a quantity of gunpowder had been placed in the engine, and the matter is now being investigated by the police.
