DEMOCRAT CONVENTION.
A ■WEALTH OP CANDIDATES. NO NOMINEE YET. (Received 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 30. At the Democrat Convention there have been six ballots and no nominee, or even an indication of a nominee. The result of the first six hours' work was: W. G. McAdoo 443 (one-tenth) ; A. E. Smith 261, O. W. Underwood 41, J. T. Robinson 19, John Davis 34, Charles P. O. Bryan 19, J. M. Cox 59, S. M. Ralston 30, C. Glass 25. Silzer 28. The outstanding result of the great conflict over the Ku Klux Klan plank in the platform, has been that there is no likelihood of any one who has any connection with its organisation being nominated for tbe Presidency. Party leaders are indicating that every effort will be mado to heal all wounds and to assure the. United party that no one who is touched with the Klan controversy will receive nomination. Thus Messrs. McAdoo, Smith, and Underwood would not be available. The vote over the Klan was so close that the result might be affected by a woman delegate from Georgia altering her vote.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
