PRESENTATION.
Mr. F. H. Cumberworth, until recently artist of the Auckland "Star," who left for Sydney by the Marama to-day, was farewelled by his fellow workers this morning. In presenting him with a silver cigarette case on behalf of the literary staff, Hr. A. Bullock spoke in eugolistic terms of ilr Cumberworth's four years' service with the paper and wished him every success in his new sphere of life. Returning thanks, MrCumberworth, who is to take up a position on the staff of the Sydney "Evening News," expressed regret at severing his connection with the "Star." Prior to the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting last evening, opportunity was taken by the Mayor and councillors to bid farewell to Mr. J. Brookes, late postmaster of the district, \vl* has been transferred to Avondale. In making a presentation to Mr. Brookes of a case of pipes and pouch, suitably engraved, the Mayor on behalf of the council wished Mr. Brookes happiness and prosperity. Mr. Brookes suitably replied.
