THE STORY OF BABA.

In the gardens of the Khedive'g palace there lived many animab—three camels, an elephant, a panther, a wolf and a gazelle.

The three camels were called Rajah. Hajah, and Baba. Rajah and Hajah were the father and mother of Ba'ia who -was a very pretty baby camel of I soft fawn colour. She was'a great fay ourite with Mr. Elephant, who w as , crusty old bachelor.

One day. when Rajah and Hajah -were out, he called at their bungalow to tell Baba a new fairy story. To his ' astonishment there were clouds of Fmoke coming from the kitchen. Sud denly he heird a little cry from Baba's nursery, and looking up at her window saw the poor baby standing there and crying—even her little hump seemed to have become smaller in her fri»ht Mr. Elephant! Then he walked to the pond near bj and, filling his trunk witli water, he came back to the bungalow and poured it on to the burning house. A very happy Baba greeted Hajah and Rajah when they returned home.
