SEQUEL TO COLLISION. PAYNE SENT TO GAOL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. George Payne, who took a car belonging to White's garage to Auckland, and who collided at St. Helicr's Bay with another car, damaging both seriously, was charged here to.ay with having illegally converted a motor car to his own use. He was sentenced to two months' imprisonment. On two charges of forgery and uttering cheques for _G and " £16, Payne pleaded guilty and was committed "for sentence at the Auckland .Supreme Court.
