SHORT STORIES.
AN OFFER TO WRITERS. On the first Saturday of each month during 1!)24 there will be published in "The Auckland Star" a short story by a local writer. Any MS. received during the previous month will be carefully read and a selection made of what is considered the best story submitted. It is hoped in this way to give some encouragement to young writers anxious to develop the faculty of producing fiction. Stories should not exceed 2f>oo words inlength, and should be legibly written on one side of the paper only. A payment of two guineas will he made to the successful author, and all rejected MS., when accompanied by a stamped and addressed envelope, will be returned.
