SCULLING
The "Sydney Referee" aquatic scribe also deals with the question of the title which is billed as being at stake in the forthcoming contest between Hannan and McDevitt. He says: "As I have mentioned before. T cannot admit that any such title exists. Scullers or promoters, or both, cannot manufacture titles at will. The championship of Australasia can only be brought into existence at a meeting of representative Australian and New Zealand scullers and supporters of sculling, or by governing bodies, and after rules, etc., to govern same had been drafted and approved. And then the competitors would have to be the respective champions of Australia and New ZealandAnd they would have to row for so j much on the side. Sculling for a sub- | scribed jjuree would not meet the case."
