SUICIDE AT TE KUITI.
m A MAN- DELUSION. CBy Telesraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE KUITI, Friday. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death by poisoning on Thursday of Patrick Duffy was conducted to-day by Mr. J. Tammadge, actingcoroner, before a jury of four. Dr. Mcßae said that in his opinion death was due to heart failure, from shock following acute poisoning. A half empty bottle of poison was found near the body? Witness had previously attended the deceased, who had given his occupation as a navvy residing at '\Yhan__momona Bay. From evidence given by Richard J. Ferris, it appeared that deceased was under a delusion that the police were after him, but witness did not consider there was nothing in deceased's demeanour to indicate that he was about to commit suicide. Deceased handed witness £11 in notes and his watch, and witness gave these to the police. The jury returned a verdict that the deceased had met his death by an overdose of poison, self-administered, while in a depressed state. The foreman of the jury added that the jury wished to record their appreciation of the action of the witness Ferris in so promptly handing the money and watch to the police. I
