MISS CAMPION'S CONCERTS

A really splendid programme was provided last night for the second of the three concerts given by Miss Kate Campion in the Town Hall, .and no singer of less ability could have come through the test so brilliantly as this gifted Auckland artist. Her items ranged from the difficult "Balatella" from "Pagliacci," through the splendid aria of Santuzza's in "Cavallcria Kusticnna," the wonderful book scene from "Hamlet." "Chanson Triste" and Other immortal music, down to the simple ballad. It was au astonishingly clever performance, and showed how thoroughly Miss Campion has equipped herself for her chosen profession. Encores were of course frequent, and the singer was most generous in responding with additional numbesr. Signor Co°stantini, the Sistine Choir tenor, was again most cordially received, and after "Fu Dio Che Disse," he was called back three times. The other assisting artist, Mr. Harold Beck, of the New South Wales State Orchestra, contributed considerably to the success of a most enjoyable concert, his 'cello solos being most artistically played and keenly appreciated. Mr. Cyril Towsey again* accompanied with that sympathy and distinction that marks his work. The last concert of the series is announced for this evening.
