Play was on a matting wicket, witb a rough outfield. Motueka batted first, and made 116 for seven wickets (declared). In their first innings Auckland declared witb 168 for eight wickets, the principal scorers being Hemus 14, Park 17, Cooper 33, Johnston 11, Gerrard (not out) 18. and Mills (not out) 13. In Motueka's first innings, Scott got three wickets for 15. Arblaster five for 28, Cooper one for 13, Johnston one for 14. Hemus and Beale bowled unsuccessfully. In Motueka's second innings Scott got four wickets. Cooper two, and Arblaster one. Auckland won by 58 runs on tbe first innings.
