HIGHWAY FROM FRAIfXTOK. FIRST-CLASS ROAD WANTED. (3y Telegraph.—•"pedal to "SUr.'T HAMILTON, this day. A strong plea for the immediate hying down of the main traffic ronte between Hamilton and Frankton in permanent material as a firet-ebsi thoroughfare was made by Mr. J. Sent at the meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last night. The speaker advocated this as against an alternative route proposal contained in the schedule lof road works, and he moved that tenders be at once called for the work. Mr. Carton seconded the motion, ieA considered the work should be. carried right from Frankton through to Hiuniiton East, and along Naylor Street. He agreed it should be proceeded with v quickly ■as possible this summer. Mr. Watts said the engineer had gone to a lot of trouble to draw up a schedule of -works, and they should certainly consider Mr. Denz's proposals carefully lent they created collateral difficulties. The engineer's opinion, doubtless, was that by putting down an alternative route of narrower width relief would be given quicker. It was questionable, however, whether it would not be better to get right on with the main route. This would have to carry a very big weight of traffic, and would doubtless require a special foundation. The matter was referred to the Worfc» Committee for immediate considerate
