THE TAKAPUNA ORPHANAGE.
TO-DAY'S COLLECTION. The cause of the boys of the Boys' Takapuna Orphanage, was advocated in the city and suburbs to-day, by a willing band of ladies, who, armed with collection boxes, solicited funds from the publi'- for the furnishing nnd equipment of tho new orphanage that is beinrr built. The appeal is one that is deserving of every support, the recent fire involving the total loss of the furniture and bedding, while 100 boys were rendered homeless. At. the present time there is also an urgent need for clothing. It is anticipated that a considerable sum will be raised. The treasurers today are Messrs. J. J. O'Brien and G. Foster, while the collection is being carried out under the supervision of Bishop Liston and Chancellor Holbrook.
